Arrive at Cochin Airport. Two auto rickshaws will meet you. One for you and the other for your luggage which will be accompanied by one of our staff. Rest of the day for unwinding. Kovalam.

Travel by Ambassador taxi to the boat jetty in Cochin, take the local ferryboat across to historic Fort Cochin for lunch and a walk around Spice Street, the ancient Jewish Synagogue and the many handicraft and antique shops. Dinner under the stars in the outdoor garden of a historic hotel. Kovalam.

Travel by bus to Allappey, one hour south. Check into a Heritage house overlooking a magnificent white beach. Relax in the late afternoon under the dying rays of the Kerala sun. Go for a ride on an elephant at a nearby local Village. We can also arrange for you to be married Pretend you're a maharaja and travel by caparisoned elephant to a local Hindu temple. in this kind of splendour or we can arrange for the renewal of your vows at a Christian Church should you prefer. Dinner at the Heritage Guesthouse.

Travel Short trip by rickshaw to the boat jetty to board the famous Kerala houseboats. Your staff await you! So does your lunch. Fresh tuna, carrot/coconut thoran, vegetable curry, potato masala……After lunch, glass of whatever hand it's time for a snooze on the shaded upperdeck while the houseboat glides through the canals and rivers of God's Own Country. Kovalam..

Disembark in the midst of the backwaters at Kumarakom, the rice bowl of Kerala. Stay in an original Kerala wooden house, a tharavad, in a re-creation of a traditional village. Spend the afternoon punting down the river in a traditional fishing boat. Mid-afternoon snacks of fluffy pancakes, bananas and coconut are Kerala-style.

Start the morning with dip in the pool followed by an oil bath, and a rejuvenating hand & foot massage from trained Ayurvedic masseurs. Loll around all day, enjoying the spectacular views and beautiful sunshine..

Begin your train journey to Trichur, Kerala's cultural capital. A perfect way to view the changing landscape from your air-conditioned carriage. Afterwards take a guided tour of Trichur town, taking in the Museum and a host of temples boasting some of Kerala's finest architectural styles..

After breakfast it's out to the Great Elephant House for you, home to forty big ones whose duties include temple processions all the year round. Rest of the day at leisure.

Into the beack seat of the comfy old Ambassador again and on to Palakkad. Now the moemnt you have been waiting for! It's bullock cart time. Travel from the outskirts of the town to a local Indian family for afternoon chai in a family home. Enjoy Indian snacks in their small living room. Carry on to remote farming villages and taste a drop ( only one!) of the local brew called toddy. Gentlemen, have your hair cut by a street barber… if you like. Option to travel back by cart or by rickshaw.

It's a one-hour trip back to Cochin and we offer you your choice of transport for the return journey. Now you will want to start your shopping. We offer you a guide to bring you to the best shops and to make sure you get the best deals. Carvings in sandalwood or rosewood are popular favourites, Indian spices to remind you of your trip-of-a-lifetime, colourful Indian silk and cotton……the list is bigger than your suitcase..
